GRISO Summer School 2022 in Nuuk, Greenland
The Greenland Ice Sheet Ocean Science (GRISO) network will host the first GRISO Summer School in Nuuk, Greenland during July 11-23, 2022. The topic is Impacts of glacier retreat on Greenland coastal margins.
The summer school will emphasize both Greenland science and building collaboration, communication, and complex problem solving skills. Activities will take place in the Center for Education in the Natural Sciences, at the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources. Participants will learn about the state of science and techniques in glaciology, ice-ocean interaction, fjord oceanography, coastal ecosystems and community response to coastal change, and they will develop skills in cross-discipline collaboration and communication facilitated by experts from Knowinnovation (https://knowinnovation.com/). There will be opportunities to participate in boat trips and hiking. More broadly, the summer school aims to build a strong and healthy early career science network.
The target audience for the summer school is advanced PhD students and postdocs, and we are able to accommodate approximately 12 students. We encourage applications from Greenland-based students and underrepresented minority groups.
Applications are now open and will close on 11 February 2022.
