This grant is a joint initiative between IGS and the Early-Career Glaciology Group (EGG). All aspects of the grant (including advertisement, reviewing applications, and awarding funding) are undertaken by the EGG. It is supported financially by IGS, who allocate £2000 annually. There are two grant calls each year, with deadlines in January and July.
The grant aims to provide financial support to early career researchers (ECRs) in any field of cryospheric research to enable them to attend, and participate in, conferences and meetings that are fully or partly sponsored by the IGS, up to a maximum award of £750. In particular, the grant also aims to increase participation of early-career, underrepresented minorities in cryospheric research (e.g., Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour; BIPOC), as well as those who do not have access to traditional sources of funding.
