IGS British Branch – Liverpool 2024
The 2024 IGS British Branch meeting, will be held at the (venue to be decided) at the University of Liverpool on Monday 2 September and 3 September, 2024
Please save these dates in your diaries as we hope to welcome as many glacial folks as possible, particularly considering this is the 50th anniversary of the British Branch.
The meeting will run as usual with both oral and poster presentations, a conference meal and an early-career researcher event. We will endeavour to open the registration/abstract submission at the beginning of May with the deadline at the end of July. I will send a follow up email via the mailing lists once these open up!

The abstract submission and registration for the International Glaciological Society British Branch (IGS BB) meeting is open! The meeting will take place at the University of Liverpool on Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd September 2024. Please access our online store here to register for the meeting, submit your abstract, pay the conference fees/dinner and note any further information.
To navigate the online store, you have to pay for the registration (and conference dinner as an additional extra), checkout and then fill out the registration form which should appear automatically. If you want to see the form prior to paying for the registration, you can run through it and checkout as a guest (with an email) where it will also appear. The form will note your details, abstract details (250 words max) and dinner choices for the conference meal which will be held at Frederiks on Hope Street at 7 pm on Monday 2nd September. Monday 2nd will also host an early-career researcher event (roughly 5 to 7 pm depending on programme scheduling) which will be held in collaboration with the IGS-EGG.
When accessing the online store, please fill out the EDI participant survey in the ‘More Info’ tab to help monitor the diversity of attendees at IGS BB meetings.
Registration fees can be found on the online store, but to clarify here as well, they are as follows:
- Waged staff: £65
- Waged students (i.e. PhD studentship): £45
- Unwaged students: £25.
The conference dinner held at Frederiks will cost £31.50 which includes a reception drink and a three-course meal. The abstract deadline will close on Friday 5th July and registration will close on Friday 26th July 2024.
